WPSHC - West Parry Sound Health Centre has entered the new year with a commitment to its enduring vision and values along with a challenging new mission. All of these components are part of the health centre’s new Strategic Plan that will help to guide the organization into the year 2014.
        Under the direction of Board Chair Don Brickett, steady progress was made on the plan through the final months of 2009. Trustees framed the new strategic plan from their own input and information gathered during approximately 25 meetings with staff, physicians, external partners, community groups, and individual citizens. The plan’s ‘strategic issues’ are now part of the health centre’s key indicators that are regularly reported to the Board of Trustees.
        Finalizing the new Strategic Plan was also an important objective for CEO Donald Sanderson, who recently celebrated his first full year at WPSHC.
        “It is an honour and a privilege for everyone at West Parry Sound Health Centre to be providing our community with the best possible health care,” said Sanderson. “In order to understand the success of our current programs and services and to better plan for the future we needed the active participation of many people, both inside and outside of our organization. We are thankful for the thoughtful input that has proven to be so extremely valuable in the formulation of our new strategic plan.
        “I encourage our staff, health care partners, and people in the community to remain engaged as we annually review the value and success of this Strategic Plan.”

        Important components of the WPSHC Strategic Plan 2009-2014 include:
• Reaffirmed credo - ‘We CARE for People.’
• Reaffirmed Statement of Values - ‘Compassion, Accountability, Rights and Responsibilities, and Excellence.’
• Reaffirmed Vision - ‘Achieve excellence in health for life.’
• A new Mission - ‘A provider and partner in the delivery of exceptional health CARE.’
• Six new strategic issues that form the basis of the annual operational plan.
