The Importance of Pets

Lakeland aspires to be as home-like as possible in an effort to make our residents feel comfortable and truly "at home". Some of our residents are used to having pets in their lives and we can see the value in maintaining the interaction that residents may have had with pets prior to admission to Lakeland.

Lakeland has three resident cats, as well as birds and visiting dogs. Kia, who is owned by Lori one of our housekeeping staff, is often seen throughout the home. Chase, who is owned by Valerie, our Business Manager, takes residence on his chair in the administration offices.

It is important that the pets who live at or visit Lakeland are not just people friendly, but also sensitive to those who do not particularly like animals around. Our pets have that sensitivity. Any dog or cat can visit Lakeland, but first must pass a temperament test. This is simple procedure where the pet is assessed by our recreation staff.
