Therapeutic Recreation
The Recreation Department is led by our Recreation Coordinators- Hilary Harway and Elyse Whitehouse. Hilary and Elyse are both recent college graduates who are full of fresh new ideas for the department. They will be working with the recreation team to incorporate Therapeutic Recreation into the lives of residents, which is a new and exciting initiative for the Recreation Department. Vital members of the recreation team consist of one Recreationist- Sarah Allen, and Restorative Workers- Deborah McColeman, Lynda Johnson (who works specifically with Dementia Residents) and new to our team, Cecil Crisp.
Our Recreation Coordinators manage the recreation department staff, programs, monthly calendars and everything in between. Alongside the Recreationist and Restorative workers, Hilary and Elyse devote themselves every day in making recreational programs exciting and fun for all residents regardless of abilities and limitations.
The "Rec" staff plan and run daily activities such as 'Fun & Fitness' as well as special monthly activities like 'Birthday Celebrations'. For the residents, recreation and leisure is a huge part of their day and we do our best to make sure we run appropriate programs and that the residents have fun and benefit from them.
