What is a Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic (NPLC)?

NPLCs were introduced in Ontario in 2007 to address the needs of underserviced communities and provide access to quality primary health care. NPLC’s provide team-based care. At the WPSHC NPLC, your team includes other providers like registered practical nurses, a physiotherapist, and counsellors. In an NPLC, NPs provide leadership at all levels of the organization. NPLCs promote a model of care that supports first-contact, accessible, continuous, comprehensive and coordinated person-focused care. It aims to optimize population health and reduce disparities across the population by ensuring that subgroups have equal access to services.
