Land Acknowledgement
West Parry Sound Health Centre acknowledges that we are located on the traditional territory of the Anishinabek Nation. The Indigenous peoples in the area include the Ojibway, Chippewa, Odawa, and Pottawatomi lineages.

We acknowledge that the area is also now called home by the Mohawk people from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and various First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. We know and wish to further our understanding that the Indigenous peoples of this land have inherent rights, governance structures, and rich cultures that have existed on this land since time immemorial.

We believe it is of the utmost importance to recognize the continued effects of colonization and the privileges that continue to be bestowed on many by that history. We acknowledge the pain wrought by this legacy and declare our intention to work towards a better future together. We share our gratitude for the beauty and abundance that surrounds us, and hope that through our continued collaboration and relationship building we can be more respectful of the land, its people, and be more deserving of the gifts they share.
