Conrad van der Valk
Conrad van der Valk has served as a Director of the WPSHC Board since 2004, both in his capacity as the representative for the West Parry Sound municipalities and, following his retirement from politics, as an elected member of the board. His experience as a Councillor for the Town of Parry Sound for 19 years has provided him with valuable insights into the concerns and needs of a northern community.
Born in Holland, he emigrated to Canada in 1951, attended the University of New Brunswick for six years specializing in History. A resident of Parry Sound since 1969 he taught history and physical education at Parry Sound High School until his retirement in 1999.
During his many years in public life Conrad has served on a number of committees and boards including the Parry Sound Area Planning Board, St. Joseph’s Hospital Board, Parry Sound District Social Services Administration Board, Northern Ontario Social Services Delivery Agency, and the Parry Sound Area Tourism Board.
Conrad is an strong proponent of an active lifestyle and appreciates the many opportunities available to residents of this beautiful part of the world.
