West Parry Sound Health Centre, a regional hospital facility, is seeking a full time General Internist. Locum opportunities are also available. The Intensive Care Unit at West Parry Sound Health Centre is a six-bed, level two ICU that includes centralized monitoring and ventilator capacity. The unit provides support to patients with complex respiratory, cardiac, and GI conditions. It also serves as a surgical step down unit.

The Department of Internal Medicine is expanding its program to a fourth internist. Internists will share a one-in-four call, being responsible for medical management of patients admitted to the ICU, and responding to consults from the Medical / Surgical Units and the Emergency Department.

Diagnostics on site include 24/7 access to laboratory and diagnostic imaging (CT, x-ray) as well as echocardiography, and stress tests.

Qualifications:

Medical Degree and current license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Demonstrated ability in working successfully with an inter-professional health care team.

West Parry Sound Health Centre provides a wide range of hospital and community services to the areas 21,000 permanent residents and 150,000 summer residents. Our Health Centre includes a 70-bed acute care facility with an attached 110-bed long term care facility. In addition to the ICU, the centre has active surgical and obstetrical programs. Medical specialties include general and orthopedic surgery and internal medicine, augmented by visiting consultation services that include geriatric medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, ophthalmology, and urology.
