High influenza activity in our community - 'masking policy' in place
Because of elevated influenza activity in our community, West Parry Sound Health Centre has activated its ‘masking policy’ - requiring non-immunized health care workers, volunteers, and visitors to wear an appropriate mask, until further notice. While annual vaccination is the best tool for prevention of influenza and its complications, we know hand hygiene continues to be an important second line of defence. Since influenza is spread by the droplet route, wearing the proper PPE (personal protective equipment), like a surgical mask, can assist in preventing the spread of the virus.
We thank everyone who is taking this extra step to help us keep our patients, families, visitors, volunteers and staff safe.
We encourage everyone to get their annual flu shot.
