Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic

The West Parry Sound Health Centre’s Rural Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic (WPSHC NPLC) is a centralized clinic that manages and operates six rural sites that services approximately 6,000 km2 in the West Parry Sound area. The mandate of the NPLC is to provide primary care to registered patients.

Please note that none of our sites are walk-in clinics, booking appointments is necessary.

The entire NPLC team from all six sites is gathered for a team building day. The group is comprised of 26 women, all of different ages. They smile at the camera and are wearing summer clothing, following a fun outing.

Our Clinic Sites

Our Primary Care Mandate

Primary care is the day-to-day health care given by your primary health care provider (i.e. Nurse Practitioner or Physician). Primary Health Care providers provide care to across the lifespan of their patients. They are your first point of contact within the care system and are responsible for coordinating specialist care. The WPSHC NPLC works with a team practice approach which includes, registered practical nurses, social workers, physiotherapists and other health care professionals.

Our mandate, under the province of Ontario, is to provide primary care to registered patients.

Recognizing that access to care in the rural North, can be challenging, our NPLC sites all do their best to provide same-day appointments for simple issues, when possible. We are however unable to accommodate walk-in appointments and encourage you to call the site you wish to visit to check availability.

Non-registered Patients

If you are a non-registered patient seeking care, you are advised to consider local Alternative Care Options. We encourage our seasonal residents to touch base with their Primary Care Providers, regarding their primary care needs, prior to visiting the area.

Our team understands regional difficulties in accessing care, especially during seasonal fluctuations, as such when possible, we do our best to provide appointments to non-registered patients. These appointments are outside of our mandate and limited.

Our Programs and Services

Our NPs provide the full scope of care available from other primary care providers and the clinic provides additional treatment and programs. These include, but are not limited to:

*Please note that services available may vary between NPLC sites.

Missed / Late Appointments

We understand that issues may arise that cause you miss an appointment last minute, we ask that please call your clinic site to cancel and rebook.

Prescription Renewals

If you are seeking a prescription renewal, please contact your pharmacy. It may be helpful to pay close attention to your medication supply and plan in advance.
