Palliative care at our health center follows the hospice within the hospital model and has five palliative care beds that offer specialized care to patients with terminal illnesses. Our compassionate, multidisciplinary team—including doctors, nurses, and social workers—focuses on managing pain, alleviating symptoms, and providing emotional support. This integrated approach ensures that patients and families receive holistic care tailored to their needs, enhancing their quality of life during challenging times.
Our team places a strong emphasis on supporting families, understanding that caregiving can be emotionally and physically demanding. We do our best to provide guidance and resources as well as respite care to support loved ones through the journey. Our goal is to improve comfort and well-being for both patients and their families, addressing physical, emotional, and practical needs every step of the way.
Our Palliative Care floor is equipped with a family room and kitchenette for patients and families to use. Visitor policies are more flexible for palliative care families and visitors.
We encourage visitors to connect directly with your loved one’s care team to discuss visiting hours and the number of visitors, as each situation can be unique. To connect directly to the Palliative Care team call (705) 746-4540 ext. 3060.
Families of palliative patients can receive a free parking pass for their visits. Please touch base with the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation office during business hours to collect these tokens.
