WPSHC offers a whole host of rehabilitation programs and services including both inpatient and outpatient services. All programs are supported by a muti-disciplinary, allied health, care team including:

Inpatient Services
WPSHC has numerous Active Rehabilitation beds that offer specialized inpatient services designed to support patients recovering from functional impairments following surgery, injury, or illness, providing tailored rehabilitation therapies. We offer a goal-oriented program designed to help patients reach their maximum level of independence and optimize their physical, mental, and/or social function through rehabilitation interventions.
These beds are staffed with multi-disciplinary teams to promote recovery, mobility, and overall well-being through a combination of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and medical oversight. Our Inpatient Beds are located in Unit B on the 3rd floor for the health centre.
Outpatient Services
Outpatient Services and Programs are offered in our Outpatient Rehab Gym on the 1st floor of the health centre. Also known as the Day Hospital, the Outpatient Rehab Gym operates from Monday to Friday between the hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cardiac Rehab Program
Designed to teach healthy lifestyle changes and improve strength and endurance for individuals who have had, or are at a high risk of having, a cardiac event such as: angina, coronary artery bypass surgery, angioplasty, myocardial infarct/heart attack or congestive heart failure.
Neurological Rehab Program
Designed to promote neurological recovery, development of compensatory skills, decrease falls, and promote functional independence through independent treatment for people living with a neurological diagnosis such as: Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury.
Pulmonary Rehab Program
Designed to teach healthy lifestyle changes and improve strength and endurance through education and supervised exercise for individuals who have respiratory diseases, such as: pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, COPD or chronic bronchitis.
Healthy Aging Program
Designed to promote healthy lifestyles, reduce the risk of falls, improve mobility and maintain independence for seniors 65 and older through education and supervised exercise.
Joint Pre-Op Education (Virtual and/or In-person)
NEJAC is a rapid access clinic which provides a pathway for patients who suffer from moderate to severe hip and knee arthritis to see an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Physiotherapist where they conduct a comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment. The goal of NEJAC is to reduce wait time for access to care and provides a single point of entry for primary care providers.
Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis Class
This group-based exercise sessions focused on strength, balance, posture, and education. These are 60-minute sessions that occur twice per week for six weeks, with two additional assessment sessions by a physiotherapist. An education package is also provided to patients with information on arthritis (including causes, diagnosis, and treatment), and how exercise can improve osteoarthritis symptoms. The goal of this class is to improve function, reduce pain, and increase patient’s confidence in self-managing their condition.”
Patients with a referral from their primary care provider can access individualized services such as:

Patients who have experienced a stroke can be referred to access a specialized, targeted, and inter-professional team. The program addresses goals related to returning to meaningful activities, and life reintegration, after stroke. Designed with linkages to community supports through our partnership with our Community Stroke Navigator, The Friends of Parry Sound, this program is designed to provide a comprehensive service after a stroke.

- NEJAC requires a referral from a physician.
- There is no fee to access NEJAC as this service is covered by OHIP.
After the comprehensive assessment from the APP, if surgery is the next step, an appointment with the next available or preferred orthopedic surgeon is arranged. If surgery is not needed, non-surgical treatment options are discussed (education, exercise prescription, injection therapy, assistive devices), and more support and resources are provided to appropriately self-manage your condition.
